Registration for Partially Online Summer School is now closed
FCPS will be offering some
Summer School courses partially online in 2008; however, in order to make
sure that these partially online courses will meet students' needs, we
are requiring that students apply to take the courses. If a student does
not meet the criteria to take a partially online course, he/she may still
register for a traditional Summer School course by seeing their counselor. Please consider the following
information before you apply to take a partially online course:
Summer School runs from June 24 until August 7, 2008, from 8:00 am until 1:00 pm. Students will be required to attend school at Thomas Johnson High School at least one time per week for partially online courses. (Students may be required to attend more than once a week.) Failure to attend the face-to-face sessions will result in withdrawal from the course.
Students who do not have daily access to the Internet and an e-mail address should not apply.
All registrations must be made online, through the website (http://online.fcps.org/summer) and are due no later than 5:00 pm on Monday, June 16, 2008.
Students who wish to take a partially online summer school course must successfully complete an online proficiency assessment. This is an online mini-course students take mostly at home. It requires about an hour and a half of work over three days. (If you have already passed this assessment as part of taking an online course at FCVS, call Lana Moore 240-236-8423 or Buddy Phillips 240-236-8425).

The three mini-course will be offered on the following dates:
A mandatory face-to-face introduction to the assessment will be available at the Walkersville B building at 5:30 on the begin dates for each of the offerings.
Students will be notified by e-mail within 3 days of the closing date of the assessment whether they have successfully completed the course and will thus be eligible for enrollment in the partially online course for which they have registered.
Students who meet the criteria must attend, along with a parent, a required orientation on Friday, June 20, 2008, at 1:00 PM or Monday, June 23, 2008, at 5:30 pm at the Walkersville B building (directions). Click here for more information about the Course Orientation
The regular Summer School fee of $200 per course will apply. The fee will be due by cash or check at the course orientation. We are not able to take credit cards.
Courses will be offered partially online only if there is sufficient enrollment - 8 qualified students
